Decide which side of airport security you need

Write the terminal and flight details beside the storage address. Do not use a generic map pin labeled Istanbul Airport for a service at another airport or inside a restricted part of the terminal. If your route changes airports, calculate the bag's journey as a separate part of that change.

A storage receipt does not give permission to cross an airport security boundary. Ask the provider to identify the access side and entrance in plain language. For a connection involving different tickets, confirm with the airlines how you will handle checked bags before deciding where temporary storage belongs in the plan.

Keep the actual airport codes visible in your itinerary. Similar service names can obscure a major location difference, and a city-center booking does not arrange transport between airports. Plan collection early enough to change course if your chosen counter is difficult to find or cannot accept an item.

Use IST's published size bands without assuming every desk is equivalent

Emanet Bagaj advertises round-the-clock service at Istanbul Airport, with arrivals-level handover and electronic lockers. Its published 24-hour size bands are TRY 210 for small items, TRY 270 for medium, TRY 550 for large, TRY 690 for XL and TRY 860 for XXL. Confirm which band the attendant assigns to each item. ^[1]

One medium and one large item would total TRY 820 for a single listed 24-hour period. This calculation uses the displayed bands and assumes the provider accepts those classifications. Ask what happens when collection exceeds the booked period and whether your chosen locker or counter uses the same total.

The provider describes recording and tagging bags and returning them against a receipt. Keep that receipt separate from the luggage. Request the precise counter location for your arrival route; a terminal-level description alone does not establish how far the desk is from the exit you will use. ^[1]

If you are deciding between a locker and a staffed desk, compare usable dimensions and access instructions as well as cost. A bag that qualifies as medium at a counter might not pass through a particular locker door. Keep the retrieval code offline and avoid storing the only device containing it inside the locker.

Treat iGA airside storage and SAW as separate services

iGA's Left Luggage page locates its service in the international departures airside area behind the escalators to the iGA Lounge and lists 24-hour operation. That location matters more than the similarity of its price bands to another service. Do not select it as your city-visit bag drop without confirming that you can access it. ^[2]

Sabiha Gökçen's official baggage-services page identifies a paid left-luggage office in the international arrivals hall on the arrivals level. The retrieved description does not provide a complete current storage tariff and collection schedule. Obtain those from the named service for the date and bag count you need. ^[3]

For an early departure, ask whether the storage desk itself will be available at collection time. An airport operating overnight does not establish that every commercial counter does. If a bag must be collected before the terminal becomes busy, agree a practical appointment and leave time for finding staff.

A missed connection also changes the decision. Before paying for another day, establish where you will spend the night, whether you can reach your bags and whether you need them for the next flight. Do not leave your only change of clothes or essential travel documents in an area you may be unable to re-enter.

Compare a city partner with returning to your hotel

Radical Storage's Istanbul listing showed a Taksim hotel partner open 09:00–22:00 and a displayed rate of EUR 3.90 per bag per day when checked. Other listings showed different hours. The page is a starting point for choosing a partner, not confirmation of availability or the final charge on your dates. ^[4]

Use the exact location details to inspect the walk from your last activity and onward transport. A neighborhood label such as Galata or Sirkeci does not tell you which side street contains the entrance, whether there are steps or whether a car can stop outside. Ask for a recognizable entrance description when the map is insufficient.

For a hotel you are already using, request post-checkout storage and the latest retrieval time before choosing another service. Also ask whether reception is staffed continuously and whether a later shift will have the same instructions. If you are not a guest, ask about eligibility instead of arriving with an expectation of free custody.

For a partner platform, read the current item exclusions and conditions attached to the chosen booking. Radical's terms restrict certain valuables and electronic items; a general guarantee banner does not make every packed object eligible. Keep your documents and working phone with you. ^[5]

Price the complete storage decision

Keep comparisons in the quoted currency until you have an actual payment offer. A lira airport tariff and a euro platform display cannot be ranked by their numerals. Currency conversion, any card charge and a different billing period can change the result, even before you add transport.

For an overnight stay, ask whether the booking counts calendar days or blocks of hours, and what a collection after the planned time costs. The definition can differ between services. Store a copy of the selected booking terms rather than relying on a city page that may display another date or starting price later.

We have not obtained a universal Istanbul storage compensation limit. Read the chosen operator's exclusions, reporting deadline and evidence requirements. Photograph the bag at handover, retain the receipt and report an issue before leaving the counter if possible. Storage terms and your separate travel insurance are different agreements.

Build a realistic collection buffer

1. Put the exact airport code and next departure in the plan.
2. Choose a reachable storage entrance and confirm the full item count.
3. Save the receipt, local closing time and support contact offline.
4. Collect before beginning the final airport journey whenever possible.
5. Inspect the bags and keep proof of the completed handover.

Use a collection time based on your onward check-in requirements and current transport information. This guide does not promise a fixed city-to-airport journey. Traffic, finding the entrance and a queue at the desk all consume time separately, so do not use the shop's final closing minute as your target.

If the service is full or cannot accept a bulky item, shorten the sightseeing plan or return to a confirmed hotel arrangement. Spending the remaining buffer searching for a marginally cheaper desk can undermine the whole departure. A useful storage booking is one you can confidently finish, as well as start.
